Inspired by the composer’s own Irish heritage,
"Songs for an Ancient Soul" conjures visions of the beauty, majesty and heroism of Ireland often heard in Celtic
Legend. Originally written for the two-time
WGI Scholastic World Concert Class Champion Gateway High School Percussion Ensemble, "Songs for an Ancient Soul" contains a wide variety of styles, including
a percussion interlude of thundering drums played by the whole ensemble. The Gateway Percussion Ensemble’s performance
of "Songs" is also featured on the WGI Fan’s 15 Favorites vol. 1 DVD.
